Arrivati con prepotenza a sostituire un'epoca dominata da Nokia, gli smartphone oggigiorno sono l'esempio di cellulare capace di eseguire applicazioni, collegarsi ad internet 24 ore al giorno, leggere e inviare mail, eseguire operazioni in modalità stand-by, diventare un assistente vocale per le operazioni di viaggio e di consultazione di informazioni. E' Apple infatti a portare per primo Siri sugli smartphones iPhone, seguito dagli Smart-phones Android nell'incarnazione più popolare e diffusa del Samsung Galaxy.

Dimensione e risoluzione dello schermo

Lo schermo è una delle caratteristiche essenziali per valutare uno smartphone, in quanto è lo strumento con cui controlliamo il 99% delle funzionalità del telefono e lo strumento con cui interagiamo con il dispositivo. Lo schermo del nostro smartphone deve garantirci una scrittura agevole, deve permetterci di interpretare con chiarezza quello che c’è sullo schermo in ogni condizione, e pertanto la sua dimensione va scelta in funzione di quanto sarà pratico; lo schermo determina anche il peso del dispositivo, l’ergonomia, il consumo energetico e quindi l’autonomia della batteria. La caratteristica fondamentale per valutare lo schermo è la sua definizione in relazione in relazione alle dimensioni del display. Una risoluzione di 800 x 480 su un display da 3.5 pollici ha una resa ben diversa rispetto a uno schermo da 4.5 pollici. Indicativamente sotto i 220 punti per pollice i pixel cominciano a diventare davvero visibili alla distanza di visione a cui utilizziamo normalmente uno smartphone. La protezione dello schermo è molto importante in quanto se si rompe non si può più svolgere le azioni sopraelencate. E' quindi molto importante proteggerlo con protezioni schermo. Un altro modo per proteggere lo smartphone è comprare una custodia che prevenga danni da urti o cadute. In commercio ormai ci sono migliaia di cover che svolgono egregiamente questa funzione.

Smartphones Wifi, 3G, 4G, 5G, LTE

Sempre più potenti per connettersi in rete, gli smartphone offrono oggi tecnologie di collegamento fino alla recente LTE, protocollo UMTS con migliorie di frequenza utilizzata e velocità di trasferimento dei dati. Quando cercate uno smartphone, ricordatevi che spesso lo userete in modalità Wifi con il vostro router di casa o in ufficio, ma è importante che abbiate nello stesso tempo attivo un pacchetto dati in grado di darvi la possibilità di navigare in modalità flat senza costi per traffico, visto che i servizi presenti sugli smartphone si collegano continuamente alla rete anche quando non li usate.
